The pieces chosen by the artist depict the universality of life and emotions. Her paintings portray the grey shadows of life coupled with vibrant blooms of emotion. They are sign posts of her journey through places and cultures around the world. These faces represent border crossings where peoples of many cultures intersect.
Piyali Samant is a self-taught artist who works in pencil, watercolor and oil. She has been painting for more than 15 years and works out of her home studio in Auburn. She does commissioned portraits of people and pets and custom paintings upon request. She can be reached at www.piyalis.com
Keith Vezeau is a Southbridge resident and poet. He holds an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and has taught at the University of Iowa and several Worcester area colleges.
The Quinebaug Valley Writers is a creative writing group which meets on the 4th Thursday of each month from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at 12 Crane in Southbridge. All are welcome.
