History of Honest Town Brewery
Conceptualized in 2005 as an integral part of the 12 Crane Street complex and assembled from components of former New England breweries, Honest Town Brewery gets its name from one of the proposed names for the town which it calls home: Historic Southbridge, Massachusetts. The Brewery’s first batch, named for Saint Patrick and created by Honest Town's founding Head Brewer Ben Roesch, “Padraig’s Irish Red”, debuted in March of 2008 at the first Saint Patrick’s Day Beer Fest held at 12 Crane Street. Honest Town currently brews three year round beers and several seasonal specialty beers which are currently available at the Dark Horse Tavern at 12 Crane Street.
The Brewery

Brewer's Bio
12 Crane is happy to welcome brewer Michael Labbe to Honest Town Brewery.
Who’s that guy running around 12 Crane in Brown Wellies anyway? It’s our brewer, Mike Labbe.
Mike hand-crafts the full line of Honest Town Brewery beers for The Dark Horse Tavern, The Hop Vine Café, and The Cannery Music Hall. He brings a passion for the traditional beer styles of the UK and Ireland, and the creativity to put his own mark on them. “I am so excited to be brewing here.” said Mike, “It’s a real challenge to brew beers to appeal to such a diverse audience.” Be sure to check out all of our re-formulated regulars, and come back often to try our new seasonal offerings.
Best known for his tenure as the brewer, then owner of Concord Brewery, Mike has been a fixture on the New England craft brewing scene for more than fifteen years. Mike has developed award winning English, German and Belgian style beers at Concord, Haverhill, and Pennichuck Breweries.
In addition to brewing at Honest Town Brewery @ 12 Crane, Mike is the American Beer Coordinator for the Great British Beer Festival in London, England, Head cellarman for the New England Real Ale eXhibition (NERAX) festivals, and Cellarman for the British Beer Company pubs.
If you see Mike in the brewery, be sure to stop in and say “Hi!”
